BEHIND THE PLATE: Atlantic Sea Grill in Acton gets a makeover – news – Wicked Local

Anna Saranteas had no restaurant experience when she purchased Atlantic Sea Grill at 77 Great Road in Acton in February 2015.

The dining experience, however, was another matter.

“I have had many parties and cooked every day of my life,” she said. “It was my passion. This opportunity arose and I took it. I think we’re doing pretty well.”

Saranteas was born in Greece, moved to the United States as a child, and now lives in Peabody. She bought the restaurant after her three children grew up

The Atlantic Sea Grill’s menu is mostly seafood, and Saranteas has added traditional Greek dishes such as shrimp saganaki, shrimp with a creamy red sauce, herbs, and feta cheese.

“I love it, and whoever tries it likes it,” she said. “I just love to cook and create delicious dishes. I am involved in every dish.”

Saranteas also introduced the pork kebab with tzatziki sauce, which is Greek yogurt with garlic and cucumber. However, her favorite dish is a seafood staple – the lobster roll.

“Whenever I’m hungry I walk over to her,” she said.

Saranteas also tweaked the lobster rolls, replacing the brioche with hot dog and hamburger buns, saying little things like that make a big difference.

“The brioche is much tastier,” she said. “It makes the whole taste better.”

The changes at Atlantic Sea Grill aren’t just about the menu. Saranteas has renovated the restaurant, with new furniture, new lighting and a new bar.

“The bar is great, a great big bar,” she said. “Everything is quite new. I did everything here.

The restaurant now also has an outdoor patio that can accommodate around 20 people. It was installed at the end of last summer, so they haven’t used it too much, but it will be open soon when the weather improves.

“We’re almost there,” Saranteas said.

The restaurant offers daily specials, as well as bar and halibut most weekends. There are gluten-free dishes on the menu like the mixed grill.

Atlantic Sea Grill uses local farms such as Jones Farm in Chelmsford, and gets their fish from Boston Harbor three to five times a week depending on how much they sell. Customers can also buy the same fish that the restaurant offers, as its fish market is open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“If it’s not fresh, we won’t sell it,” she said.

Atlantic Sea Grill, 77 Great Road in Acton, is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
