Summer 2022 officially kicked off with a bang last weekend as thousands of people flocked to Rehoboth Beach, Ocean City and the rest of the beaches in Delaware and Maryland.
But the fun is just beginning! We have several weeks of fun in the sun and great outdoor events and festivals coming up over the next few months.
This week alone, there are more than a dozen big stories to tell you about throughout Delaware and Maryland, as well as just over the state line in southeastern Pennsylvania.
So let’s go. Here are the Oldfather Group’s top picks for fun summer events at and near Delaware and Maryland beaches.
We start in the historic town of Lewes:
Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival (June 4-5)
The Lewes Historical Society complex in downtown Lewes is once again hosting this festival of sea glass and coastal arts for the 13th year in 2022, with dozens of vendors expected again this weekend.
The festival will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Shipcarpenter Street, at the end of historic Second Street in Lewes. This annual festival traditionally draws hundreds of visitors to the “First City of the First State” in early June.
Artists will be present in fields such as sea glass, jewelry, photography, ceramics, sculptures, carpentry and more.
There will also be live entertainment throughout the two days of the event, with music ranging from bluegrass and Celtic to Motown and rock.
Admission for the 2022 festival is $5 per person per day. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

A total of 11 bands will play this year on the beach between Dorchester Street and North Division Street. Jimmy Charles and his band from Nashville highlight Saturday’s lineup, with Cheakaity wrapping up the festival on Sunday night.
The Shore Craft Beer Fest 2022 is taking place this year as part of the Jellyfish Festival, from 12pm to 10.30pm both days. Over two dozen beers will be available for tasting, so grab a beer and a spot in the sand for a music-filled day in Ocean City.
Other scheduled activities include a wide selection of vendors, East Cost Corn Hole Championships, a Marine Corp Fitness Zone, crafts for kids and more.
