hurricane season runs until November 30

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As Hurricane Ida hits Louisiana, the National Hurricane Center continues to track multiple disturbances across the Atlantic as hurricane season enters peak season.

The most recent disturbance to come into play on Sunday is a tropical wave (red x) which is expected to emerge off the west coast of Africa by Monday evening.

Environmental conditions appear to be favorable for the development of an area of low pressure once the wave moves offshore.

A tropical depression is likely to form by the middle or end of the week as the system moves west-northwest at a speed of 10 to 15 mph over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Center predicts an 80% chance of further development within the next five days.
